About

Buy Fresh Buy Local ® is a nationwide, grassroots program managed by the FoodRoutes Network. Pennsylvania chapters are coordinated by the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA). Lancaster’s Buy Fresh Buy Local ® chapter is spearheaded locally by The Local Economy Center of Franklin and Marshall College, with assistance from The Library System of Lancaster County.
The mission of Lancaster Buy Fresh Buy Local ® is to
- increase the demand for locally-produced foods, and
- strengthen our local food system by connecting Lancaster County families, farmers markets, restaurants, and other institutions with Lancaster County farmers.
Our initiatives educate the public on the benefits of locally-grown foods, increase consumers access to local and sustainably produced foods, and help our farmers find local markets for their products.
The Buy Fresh Buy Local ® label represents quality foods, grown on Lancaster County farms. Look for it on product packaging, in stores, on menus, and at your farmers market. It represents a network of farms, restaurants, grocers, and farmers markets you can rely on for the best foods our County has to offer.
Remember, it’s easy to buy local in Lancaster County! When you buy foods grown by our farmers, your dollar supports the local economy, helps our farm families, and brings fresh, delicious, and nutritious foods to your table. Buying locally grown and produced foods means you can choose food from farmers you know and trust.
Your food dollars matter! Invest in the future of Lancaster County–buy local!
